It seems they desperately wanted to save a few pixels of vertical real estate, so they took this button arrangement from the mini player and brought it to the main window, where it just looks bizarre.

Also, the new icon. It isn’t a surprise that the old music note over a CD icon is gone, as the focus of iTunes hasn’t been “rip. mix. burn.” for years. The new icon is bland. It does nothing to distinguish iTunes from any other music related application.

These two were just the quick and obvious changes I’m sure there are many other less glaring UI quirks.
